A Visual History of Freedom: An Exhibit For Young Learners & Families

Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. (or by appointment) at Kingsland Homestead, 43-35 37th Ave.  This illustrated piece of historical fiction explores the colonists' strength and perseverance in gaining freedom and personal liberties in an otherwise oppressive environment during the 17th century in New Amsterdam under the rule of Peter Stuyvesant. Bayside Historical Society Opens New Virtual Exhibit

The Bayside Historical Society (BHS) has just opened a new virtual exhibit on its website that allows visitors to get an overview of Bayside's history in a fun and interactive way.  Take a Cruise Through the History of Bayside is a timeline with text and photos that begins in 1639 (the year that the Dutch West India Company acquired the land from the Matinecock tribe) and ends in 2000 (when the nationally-acclaimed alternative rock group Bayside Band was formed).  Along the way, viewers can learn about the Bell family, a murder at the Bayside Yacht Club, producer John Golden (whose estate was bequeathed to NYC upon his death and is now John Golden Park; and much more.  The exhibit is located at www.baysidehistorical.org.  For more information, call (718) 352-1548.

This exhibit on the Bayside Historical Society explores the origins of the Officers' Club at Fort Totten from its design in the mid-19th century by the Army Corps of Engineers to its use as the original School of Application in 1887. Bayside Historical Society Opens New Virtual Exhibit

The Bayside Historical Society (BHS) has just opened a new virtual exhibit on its website that allows visitors to get an overview of Bayside's history in a fun and interactive way.  Take a Cruise Through the History of Bayside is a timeline with text and photos that begins in 1639 (the year that the Dutch West India Company acquired the land from the Matinecock tribe) and ends in 2000 (when the nationally-acclaimed alternative rock group Bayside Band was formed).  Along the way, viewers can learn about the Bell family, a murder at the Bayside Yacht Club, producer John Golden (whose estate was bequeathed to NYC upon his death and is now John Golden Park; and much more.  The exhibit is located at www.baysidehistorical.org.  For more information, call (718) 352-1548.

Bayside Historical Society Opens New Virtual Exhibit

The Bayside Historical Society (BHS) has just opened a new virtual exhibit on its website that allows visitors to get an overview of Bayside's history in a fun and interactive way.  Take a Cruise Through the History of Bayside is a timeline with text and photos that begins in 1639 (the year that the Dutch West India Company acquired the land from the Matinecock tribe) and ends in 2000 (when the nationally-acclaimed alternative rock group Bayside Band was formed).  Along the way, viewers can learn about the Bell family, a murder at the Bayside Yacht Club, producer John Golden (whose estate was bequeathed to NYC upon his death and is now John Golden Park; and much more.  The exhibit is located at www.baysidehistorical.org.  For more information, call (718) 352-1548.

This exhibit details life as it was in the Bayside community 70 years ago, featuring photographs, memorabilia, documents, accompanying narrative, and reproductions of a local magazine, Bayside Life, published from 1939-1941.  A $3 donation is requested.
