Floral Park

Floral Park and New Hyde Park share their names with Nassau County counterparts, along with the county line and post offices. This part of Queens is as close to suburbia as one can get. Many residents live in modest single-family homes typical of those built throughout Queens in the 1940s and 1950s.

Residents can also benefit from the shopping and entertainment options that Nassau County has to offer. Much of Floral Park and New Hyde Park was farmland until just after World War II when many white, middle-income families settled in the area. Today there is an increasing number of Asians, Hispanics and African Americans calling the area home.

Remnants of the prewar era are still viewable at Queens County Farm Museum, New York City's largest remaining tract of natural, undisturbed farmland with greenhouses and livestock.
